Sustainability
We are committed to sustainable practices that minimize our impact on the environment. From reducing waste to conserving resources, sustainability is at the core of our mission.
Car-Free Days Out
Join us in exploring the beauty of our region without relying on cars. We’ve partnered with Visit Lake District Car Free Days Out which encourages visitors to leave their cars behind and enjoy attractions by foot, bike, boat or public transport. By promoting car-free days out, we contribute to a greener future and wider access to leisure, culture, and nature.

Our contribution
Waterfoot Park is nestled amongst ancient woodland in the Ullswater Valley, which provides the perfect habitat for all sorts of wildlife, including red squirrels and barnacle geese. Every year since 2000, we've taken part in the David Bellamy Award scheme for our work on conservation and, in 2017, we were awarded our first ‘Honey Bee and Wildflower Award’.
Over the years, we've also contributed to various fundraising schemes, including the restoration of the Ullswater Way footpaths. We also work in partnership with the Lake District Foundation — a charity committed to sustaining the area's spectacular landscape, native wildlife and cultural heritage. To date, we've raised over £3,000 for the charity, which has helped to fund projects such as Red Squirrel Conservation and Fix the Fells.
The Countryside Code is a fantastic guide to help us respect, protect and enjoy this beautiful landscape. You can view the full code here.
